Edutainer Competition: UN Sustainable Development Goals
Funded by the Strategic Development Grant of the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, this competition aims to recruit contestants to produce a short English video aimed at raising awareness about one of the following UN Sustainable Development Goals in an educating and entertaining way:
Goal 1: No Poverty
Goal 4: Quality Education
Goal 5: Gender Equality
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption & Production
The video should be in English, and it should be creative and impactful. Our adjudicators will rate each video based on:
1. the educational value and effectiveness of the content,
2. English proficiency (both spoken and written),
3. creativity, and
4. video presentation techniques (e.g., filming, editing, and visual effects)

There are two sessions for this competition:
1. The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong
Maximum number of contestants per team: 3
Format: Flexible. The video should include not only your report on the issue, but also other creative and interesting presentations such as interviews, a short film, a song, and/or a poem. Please note that you need to include the English subtitles if the interview involves languages other than English.
Video length: around 8 minutes
2. Secondary Schools (S.1 to S.6)
Maximum number of contestants per team: 3
Format: Please produce a video about the summary of a selected issue, as well as your views and suggestions about it. You can provide some secondary research data in your presentation. Please express your ideas in a witty way instead of a boring PowerPoint presentation. Addition of the arts effect and digital story telling skills will receive an extra bonus.
Video length: around 5 minutes

- Ms Benita Chick, CEO and Founder of Encompass HK, Lecturer of the University of Hong Kong.
- Dr Amy Kong, Senior Lecturer and English Language Centre Coordinator of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
Prizes
- Each participant will receive a certificate of participation upon request.
- Each finalists will be invited to an award presentation ceremony in early July, where they will receive a certificate. Winners will receive the following cash prizes:

- Name your video with your name(s), and your school’s name.
- Please send an email to elc@hsu.edu.hk to confirm your submission. Please also include your full name, school’s name and level of study (S1, S2 etc.), as well as mobile phone number. Please indicate if you want to receive a certificate of participation.
Note: Finalists will be informed in mid June individually by phone, and they will be invited to the Award Presentation Ceremony in early July. Their videos will be uploaded onto YouTube for public voting in June and July.
