The English language competency exit requirement for general students are a score of 6.0 or above in IELTS (Academic) Test). For students of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English & Bachelor of Translation with Business (Honours), they have to attain a score of 6.5 or above.

ENG1000 English for University StudiesAdopting the blended learning approach, this module aims to coach students to apply grammar knowledge in analyzing spoken and written texts, which can improve students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills at the university level. The online learning component consolidates students’ knowledge of grammar items and sentence structure for university study. It also offers online tasks to students to apply advanced grammar and syntax knowledge in communication on the micro- and macro-levels. Students will also be provided with opportunities to examine and refine their language use through small-group English language learning tasks in the classroom.Click Here
ENG2000 IELTS Preparation CourseThis module helps students prepare themselves for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Examination. It assists students to familiarize themselves with the format of the examination by providing a range of practices for test-taking purposes.Click Here

ENG4000 English Proficiency CourseThis English course is designed for students who are not able to meet the HSUHK language competency requirements upon their graduation. The course serves as an English enhancement course to help students lift their English standard prior to graduation. Add/ Drop

Kindly note that you can still change the group through the module registration system during the module registration and add/drop period. However, dropping the class is not allowed without approval from the Department of English. A debit note with payment details will be sent to you by the Finance Office after the add/drop period.
